Meh, dreams don't have to die at all! Even if it's only an hour a week, progress is progress. What you have so far is solid stuff, the art itself is an excellent framework. (I see a lot of basic shapes, which is where you want to start this kind of thing.)
From where you are now? I'd say your next step should be toward developing some story- or maybe a DnD campaign if you're into that! I've already seen that you have some fairly fleshed out characters already developed. So how about some profiles- where they're from, what their goals are, how they got to be where they are now?
Once you have a story going then you'll have questions crop up about the world that you haven't considered- where DID that town come from; who attacked that city, and for what reason; was that group involved in events at times a & b?
World building is something I really really enjoy, and from what I can see from your art style, and the "theme" you've developed so far this looks very fresh and exciting.
The long and short of it? Don't give up 100% because you don't have the time available you think you need; any amount is better than none.
